Our Story

St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church is a family church in the Headon Forest community of Burlington. As you will read on the History pages, the story began more than two hundred years ago. As early as 1819, a group of British immigrants worshipped together in a barn and then a farmhouse, along “the Dundas Road”. The congregation was formed in 1822, when construction of the first church, a small frame building was completed. The red brick church which still stands at 3318 Dundas Street was built in 1867, the year of Confederation. That property received Heritage Designation with the City of Burlington in 1996.

Throughout the 19th century, European settlers and United Empire Loyalists attended St. Paul’s. Worship continued in the red brick church on Dundas Street through most of the 20th century. In 1986 St. Paul’s was granted status by the Presbyterian Church in Canada as an extension congregation to serve northeast Burlington. Financial support that came with this designation brought with it our first full time Minister in 1987.

Planning for our third building continued and on October 3, 1993 we held our first service in our new Church at 2600 Headon Forest Drive. We welcomed the added space and updated facility as we made the transition from a rural congregation to one within the new community of Headon Forest. At the same time we remain proud of our heritage and thankful to be able to continue to view the heritage building and historic cemetery to the west of our new home.

Fast forward 31 years to November 2024, and we welcomed Rev. Dr. Bong-Chan Paul Ko to St. Paul’s. Reverend Paul brought with him his talented family and an abundance of energy.

Further, St. Paul’s is more than just a building. It is a thriving, vibrant, and welcoming community in the heart of North Burlington, where people from diverse cultural, educational, and social backgrounds come together in faith. United by our commitment to worship and service, we seek to embody Christ’s love in all we do. This commitment is reflected in our mission statement:
“As disciples of Christ, our mission is to demonstrate God’s love within the congregation and the community.”
We are thrilled to walk together on the journey of faith in loving both God and our neighbours through the teaching of Jesus. We welcome families and individuals of all faiths to join us in this wonderful journey of joy, hope, and love.

If you are looking for a friendly, caring Christian congregation, please join us for a Sunday service and get to know us.
